Nothing more Chaos. It’s not uncommon for streaming platforms to cancel series that the public has shown (at least in words, or on social media) to respect. But the latest decision from Netflix is to cancel the mythological star series Jeff Goldblumthe last and most significant example. The new production, written by Charlie Covell Off The End of the F***ing Worldhe had only started on the 29th of August last but apparently only this abundant month was enough to decide his fate. So Le Moire cut the thread to this series which wanted to tell the story in a non-contemporary way events of the Olympic gods.
It must be said that the reception of Chaos it was not entirely unanimous. Some critics emphasized the story’s convoluted progression, with some surprising performances (for example Goldblum in the role of new Zeus displeased with mankind) and others that may not also be consistent with a very ambitious depiction of today’s world. Despite that, the series had spent four good weeks in the most watched titles top 10 on Netflixtaking third place among the most watched English series in its second week of broadcast. But it seems i 5.9 million views reaching the peak was not enough to warrant enough viewers to continue the production of the second season. It’s not uncommon for this to happen, actually, but perhaps not so often that the ax falls so close to the start date.
In the series Chaosin fact, Goldblum plays the all-powerful Zeus, however immersed in a much more human aspect, above all worried about the inexorable passage of time. After chaining Prometeo (Stephen Dillane) who dared to oppose him, the king of the gods must prevent the attempt three, Eurydice, Ariadne and Caeneusready to overthrow the fickle and vengeful deities. So the large cast, which includes names such as Janet McTree, David Thewlis, Eddie Izzard and Debi Mazar, was not enough to support a series project that did not reach the necessary parameters to continue. But who knows, the immortality of these gods might hold some surprises.
