“Kapil Sibal’s ‘Chatal with Data’ Reveals Amit Shah’s Speech on Riots as Yet Another False Promise”

Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal criticized Amit Shah’s recent speech in which he promised that there would be no riots under BJP rule, stating that it is another false promise. Sibal also pointed out riots that have occurred in various states under BJP’s rule. Amit Shah had made this promise during a public meeting in Bihar, where he urged people to help Prime Minister Narendra Modi win the 2024 parliamentary elections with a large majority and form the BJP government in the state elections in 2025. Sibal noted that between 2014 and 2020, there were 5,415 riots, and in 2019 alone, 25 communal riots took place in Uttar Pradesh, 9 in Maharashtra and 2 in Madhya Pradesh. Kapil Sibal had also criticized PM Modi’s silence on communal riots during Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal and Bihar. Sibal was formerly a Union Minister twice during the Congress-led UPA regime, but he quit the Congress in May last year and ran as an independent candidate with the support of the Samajwadi Party for the Rajya Sabha.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a public meeting at Hishua in Bihar’s Nawata district. Earlier, Kapil Sibal had on Sunday (April 2) questioned Prime Minister Modi’s silence on communal riots in West Bengal and Bihar on the occasion of Ram Navami, saying that the 2024 elections should not be a reason for such riots.

Kapil Sibal was a Union Minister twice during the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance regime. It is noteworthy that he quit the Congress in May last year and contested as an independent candidate for the Rajya Sabha with the support of the Samajwadi Party.
