As part of the renovation of the Buda Castle District, the Karakas Pasha Tower was handed over.

It was equipped with an information point, a café, a souvenir shop and toilets. In addition to the 17th-century building, which is open to the public for the first time, a Turkish garden has also been created at the northern end of the Csikós courtyard. This was planted with roses, fig trees, wild grapes, dwarf oranges and quince trees, and a Moorish-style fountain provides an oriental flair.

In the Middle Ages, today’s Csikós Courtyard was walled on all sides and was part of the defense system of Buda Castle. In this area, the so-called New Quarter was created during the Turkish period, at the end of which Pascha Karakas Mehmed had a tower built around 1620.
