Ulrich “Ed” Swillms, born in Berlin in 1947, co-founded “Karat” in 1975. He composed numerous songs, including “Over Seven Bridges” or “King of the World”.

In 1987 he left “Karat” – but he remained connected to his band even after that, the management said. “Our thoughts are with Ed’s family and friends. And while it’s cold consolation to his loved ones, his songs will live on in us forever.”
