Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Investigation Department revealed the negligence of the Karbala Investment Authority and the failure to take the necessary measures regarding a stalled project, in addition to a waste of public money in one of the contracts concluded by the governorate.
The department indicated that the staff of the Karbala Investigation Office observed violations and negligence of the Governorate Investment Authority in following up on the project to establish a residential complex, indicating that it did not take the necessary measures against one of the investment companies that was granted an investment license in the year 2012, after it delayed completing the project.
She added that the completion rate amounted to only 14%, and that the investing company tried to justify its delay by claiming that there were trespassers on the land on which the project was being implemented. Although there was a written undertaking signed by her to remove the violation.
The department continued that violations were detected in a contract concluded by the local administration in Karbala Governorate – Contracts Department, pointing out that it did not implement the instructions for implementing government contracts No. (2 of 2014) in its contract with the company implementing the project to dig a waterfall ditch, an earthen dam, and a service road around the city of Karbala. Noting that it relied on the canceled Government Contracts Instructions No. (1 of 2008) in contracting.
