Karina Rykman Releases New Album Late Checkout

Karina Rykman released her second studio album, Late Checkout, on September 25, 2026, following the release with a hometown headline show at Webster Hall and a national television debut on CBS Saturday Morning.

The New York City-native bassist, singer, and songwriter has built a reputation for high-energy live performances. Born and raised in the city, she began playing in bands in her early teens while attending countless live gigs as a fan. She has been building her audience as a solo artist since 2019, when she released her first single “Plants.” By that time, she had already taken up the bass chair in pianist Marc Benevento’s band, backed up Julia Michaels on The Today Show, and appeared on America’s Got Talent. Following her 2023 debut album Joyride, which was co-written and recorded with childhood friend Gabe Monro and co-produced by Trey Anastasio of Phish, her second studio collection expands her sound across punk, funk, rock, and psychedelic influences.

The sophomore record came together across two distinct locations.

“We did all the basic tracks there, and then we took all of that from Vermont right back to New York City and went to LCD Soundsystem’s Studio TFA and put all the bells and whistles on top there.”

The 12-track album runs for roughly 40 minutes and features kaleidoscopic singles such as Riverside Drive, “Easy, Rider,” “Late Checkout,” and Shoegaze Summer. The tracklist also includes “Easy Rider,” “Late Checkout,” Shoegaze Summer, “Zoom Out,” “Childlike,” “90,” Old Enough to Know Better, Seafood Towers, “Balcony,” “Spacecase,” and “Where You At?”
