More brands landing in Madrid before the Christmas campaign. The latest to ask for a place in one of the main shopping streets of the capital is the brand of the now deceased designer of German origin Karl Lagerlfeld, who has opened an establishment in the middle of Fuencarral street, as idealista/news has learned. The fashion company is currently owned by fashion distribution group G-III.
The company will open the store under the Karl Lagerfeld Jeans label, a brand focused on generation Z with an average price lower than its main line. The brand is under the creative direction of designer Hun Kim, co-creative director of Karl Lagerfeld with Carine Roitfeld, but will have its own logo and independent design team. 10% of the items in the first Karl Lagerfeld Jeans collection are denim.
Karl Lagerfeld Jeans will take over from the makeup distribution chain MAC, which has recently closed its doors at number 31 Fuencarral Street. It will also share commercial space with other brands such as Levi’s, Quiksilver or The North Face.
Founded in 1984 by the German designer of the same name, Karl Lagerfeld operates a network of more than two hundred stores in France, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and China, and It is distributed in multi-brand stores in sixty countries.
In 2015, G-III, the group that owns Dkny, entered the capital of Karl Lagerfeld and bought the license to distribute fashion, accessories and footwear from the Karl Lagerfeld Paris brand. Last May, the company signed the purchase of the entirety of Karl Lagerfeld for 210 million dollarstaking over the 81% that was not owned by a group of investors led by Fred Ghering.
The objective of G-III is to promote the intentional expansion of the companywhich annually generates a turnover of around two hundred million euros (excluding North America).
