Title: Farmer Earns Rs 38 Lakh in a Single Day as Tomato Prices Soar

Introduction:

Kolar, Karnataka: As tomato prices continue to skyrocket across the country, a farmer from Kolar district has made an incredible profit of Rs 38 lakh in just one day. The surge in tomato prices has prompted both central and state governments to take action to control the situation.

The Current Scenario:

The price of tomatoes, an essential ingredient in daily cooking, has been consistently selling at over Rs 100 per kilo for the past two weeks. In hilly regions such as Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, tomatoes are being sold for as high as Rs 250 per kilo. The situation has received attention after a vegetable shop owned by Ajay, a Samajwadi Party member from Varanasi, hired bouncers to protect tomatoes due to the price hike, gaining traction on social media.

The Success Story:

A farming family in Kolar, Karnataka, known for its tomato production, has significantly benefitted from the skyrocketing prices. Prabhakar Gupta, along with his brothers, who have been engaged in farming for over four decades, achieved a considerable income of Rs 38 lakh in a single day. Farming on approximately 40 acres in Bethamangala, the brothers harvested their tomatoes and sold over 2000 boxes, reaping large profits.

Prabhakar Gupta’s Perspective:

Commenting on their success, Prabhakar Gupta stated, “Two years ago, a box of 15 kg tomatoes would fetch Rs 800. However, the current price for the same box has soared to Rs 1900. We earned Rs 38 lakh by selling a total of 2000 boxes. Whilst hardworking farmers like us can make Rs 126, the profit for dealers and retail shopkeepers selling our produce is only between 40 to 60 rupees.”

Government Initiatives:

To curb the rising tomato prices, the central and state governments have implemented various measures. These measures aim to stabilize and control the price fluctuations that have been affecting common consumers across the nation. The continuous surge in prices has caused concern among citizens, leading to widespread demand for immediate action.

Conclusion:

As tomato prices continue to soar, a farmer from Kolar district has proven that the crisis can offer a silver lining to some. The impressive earnings of Rs 38 lakh in a single day highlight the extent to which the tomato market has experienced a tremendous upswing. While farmers benefit, the focus remains on implementing strategies to create a balance in order to prevent excessive price fluctuations and ensure affordability for all.
