Bengaluru: Karnataka government moves to ban halal meat. The process to introduce a bill in the assembly regarding the banning of halal meat is almost complete. After banning students from wearing hijab in schools and colleges, the BJP government is again coming up with an anti-Muslim move.

BJP MLA Ravikumar has asked the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to ban all unapproved foods. BJP’s new move comes when the assembly elections are going to be held next May. Assembly session started on Monday. It is reported that it will be introduced in the assembly as a private bill. Ravikumar has sent a letter to the Governor regarding this. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomme and MLAs gave permission to introduce the bill.

The opposition parties accused the BJP of playing the Hindutva card as the elections approached. Leader of the Opposition BK Hariprasad said that he would ask the Speaker not to allow the bill to be introduced. BJP is trying to forget the corruption and run away from the problems faced by the people. The Congress alleged that the bill against Halal is being introduced to divide the people ahead of the elections. Many Hindu organizations have come forward demanding ban on halal meat in the state.
