Shivamogga: Eeswarappa today resigned as a minister in a contractor suicide case.
Karnataka State Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Eeswarappa, who had complained to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he had asked for a 4-0 per cent commission for government contract work, was found dead in a lodge by contractor Santosh Patil, 35.
Opposition groups called for the beleagured PM to resign.
Following the end of the crisis, the police registered a case against Minister Eeswarappa at the Udupi police station yesterday (Apr. 13) for attempting to commit suicide. Meanwhile, Eeswarappa resigned from his post today. It has been reported that he will meet the Governor of Karnataka tomorrow and submit his resignation letter.
