A statue of former chief minister and DMK leader Karunanidhi will be unveiled at the Omanthurai Government Estate in Chennai this evening. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu unveils the statue. In turn the DMKs are seen with festive garlic.

Former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s birthday is coming up on June 3. DMK has decided to celebrate it better this year. Following this, Chief Minister MK Stalin had announced in the assembly that the government would celebrate Karunanidhi’s birthday and that a full-length statue of Karunanidhi would be unveiled at the Omanthurai premises.

Accordingly, a full-length statue of Karunanidhi has been installed at the Omanthurai premises. The statue will be unveiled at 5.30 pm today. The statue will be unveiled by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. The ceremony will be held at the Art Gallery.

Ministers, MPs and MLAs of the Government of Tamil Nadu are participating in this event. The DMK is already eagerly awaiting the announcement by Chief Minister MK Stalin that the DMK should come in large numbers for the unveiling of the Karunanidhi statue.

A full-length statue of Karunanidhi has already been erected at the Anna Arivalayam premises. The statue of Karunanidhi in the Omanthurai complex is of almost the same design. It is noteworthy that the late President Karunanidhi was also a senior member of the Assembly who witnessed the Golden Jubilee.
