Colombo: Sri Lankan player Chamika Karunaratne is one of the best fielders in contemporary cricket. He always maintains utmost sincerity towards the game. An incident happened the other day that humbled him to this sincerity.
The incident took place during the Sri Lankan domestic cricket league, the Lankan Premier League. He was seriously injured while trying to take a catch.
While playing for Kandy Falcons in a match against Galle Gladiators, Karunaratne ran for a catch. Two other fielders were running for the ball. But Karunaratne was called for the catch. Although the running fielders worked hard to avoid a collision, Karunaratne lost his composure for a moment. The ball hit him in the face. His four teeth were knocked out by the ball. He completed the catch in pain and bleeding.
Karunaratne was admitted to the hospital after the incident. The injury was serious and he underwent surgery. The video of the incident is circulating on social media.
