Karviná Region: Senior Driving Wrong Way Causes Five Injuries

Five people sustained injuries after a head-on collision on Sunday afternoon near Český Těšín, in the Moravian-Silesian region.The accident occurred around 3 p.m. on road 1/11 in Mistřovice.

A driver over 60 years old driving a passenger car reportedly entered the opposite lane for reasons yet to be resolute, leading to the collision.

Moravian-silesian police spokesman Soňa Štětínská confirmed that all five individuals involved, who were traveling in the two vehicles, sustained injuries.

“They were the driver and two of his fellow travelers,as well as the driver and one of her passengers,” Štětínská stated. “All five injured people were transferred to healthcare professionals.”

One of the injured, a 44-year-old man, suffered severe pelvic injuries and an injured shoulder. Air rescuers transported him to Ostrava University Hospital for urgent treatment. Also taken to the same hospital were a 60-year-old woman with serious limb and chest injuries, and a 22-year-old man who sustained chest, spine, and limb injuries.

The rescue service reported that all five were in a stabilized condition upon handover. Two women, aged 20 and 37, with moderate injuries, were transported to the hospital in Havířov.
