One of Germany’s most important art organizers and exhibition organizers is getting his private collection off the ground. A treat for art fans with well-filled wallets.

Koln.

The long-time director of the Cologne Ludwig Museum, Professor Kasper König, is having his important private collection at auction. There are more than 400 works of modern and contemporary art, said the Cologne auction house Van Ham. Not all costs have been finalized yet, but profits of several euros are expected, a spokesman said.

The most expensive work to date alone – which is called Full Day by the Japanese artist On Kawara, who died in 2014 – is estimated at 500,000 to 700,000 euros. There are also works by Sigmar Polke (1941-2010), William Copley (1919-1996), Thomas Bayrle (born 1937) and Richard Artschwager (1923-2013).

The works will be presented in an exhibition organized by König himself at the auction house. Preview is for 27th-30th. September is planned. The auction will run in several stages on October 1st and 2nd. (dpa)
