Kaspersky Lab engineers have developed a mobile RF detector that can detect drones. It is assumed that Kaspersky Antidrone Portable will be used at mass events to protect private property and transport infrastructure.

The device determines the location of the most common drone models within a radius of up to 1 km and the location of the drone operator, the press service of Kaspersky Lab reported TASS. The detector weighs less than 5 km and fits in a case the size of a carry-on suitcase. It can work offline for up to two hours. The operator can expand the search radius by moving around the protected area. Can be used in conjunction with a mobile drone jammer.

The first batch of 20 devices was handed over to one of the Russian commercial structures. The developer considers his target audience to be government organizations and businesses that are faced with “the need for timely and accurate detection of drones in a specific location and within a given period of time.”

In 2022, the first Russian radar systems to combat mini- and micro-drones entered the units of the Russian Air Defense Forces. According to a RIA Novosti source, the Ministry of Digital Development is discussing a legislative initiative that will give large companies the right to use radio-electronic means to protect objects from drones.
