A big surprise for singer Norbert Rier (64) from the popular folk music group Kastelruther sparrow (“I swear”)! His son Alexander (39) had a serious car accident in South Tyrol at night on the way back from friends. Miraculously, he survived the game.

Norbert Rier to BILD: “We don’t know exactly what happened. Maybe it’s a kind of microsleep, a moment of indifference. Anyway, he rolled in his car on the road.”
Alexander Rier is now in the hospital and he has to take it easy. He suffered a stroke and a shoulder injury. The South Tyrolean has to wear a bandage to stabilize his shoulder. It sounds relatively harmless when you consider how serious the accident was. Rier cars were totaled.

Norbert Rier: “It could have turned out differently. Alexander had a guardian angel who listened. I am sure that guardian angels are always beside us and watching over us. There is also this beautiful saying: Don’t drive faster than your guardian angel can fly. You should be aware of that and not fight it. “
And further: “Alexander has to take it easy, he can’t work yet. The collar bone has changed slightly. Shoulder injuries take a long time and are permanent. It will happen again, but he will definitely remember it for a long time and hopefully he will have learned something from it. “

Norbert Rier also had a guardian angel when he survived a major heart surgery in 2017. A heart valve was damaged, which meant it could no longer close properly. Years ago, while doing stable work on his horse farm, Rier fell into a grain silo and nearly died because of the high carbon dioxide content.

In 1998, the club’s manager, Karlheinz Gross (†39), was less fortunate. He was killed under mysterious circumstances after the band’s concert in Magdeburg. The case has not been solved and is still a traumatic experience for the group.
