Kochi: Kochi Shipyard has won a foreign contract worth Rs. After handing over INS Vikrant to the Navy, the major European company received the huge order. Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (COVs) are built to support offshore wind farms. Shipyard officials said that more orders will be received from them.
The ship is designed to be suitable for offshore energy production. Crane, special mission equipment, helipad etc will be on board. There will also be accommodation and dynamic positioning. Green systems and non-conventional energy will be used to avoid carbon emissions. The new agreement is part of the Make in India, Make for the World project.

Kochi Shipyard has been at the forefront of shipbuilding internationally for two decades. More than 50 ships were built for America, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark and the Middle East. Ships for offshore operations are built for European countries. Pollution-free, electricity-powered cargo ships built for Norway have also proven themselves. After the handover of INS Vikrant, the Navy awarded the contract, including the construction of anti-missile ships.
