Castlebar, County Mayo, January 13, 2026 – Kathleen Guthrie, a beloved resident of McHale Road, Castlebar, passed away peacefully at Mayo University Hospital, receiving remarkable care in C Block and the A and E department. She was 82.
A Life Remembered: Tributes Pour In for Kathleen Guthrie
Kathleen Guthrie’s passing has left a void in the castlebar community, remembered for her warmth and devotion to family.
- Kathleen Guthrie died peacefully at Mayo University Hospital on January 13, 2026.
- She is survived by her husband, Kevin, daughter Ashling, and grandchildren Saoirse and Lila.
- Reposing will take place at The Coady Funeral Home on thursday, followed by removal to her home.
- The Requiem Mass will be held at the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Friday at 11:30.
- Donations are requested for The Stroke Unit at The Sacred Heart Hospital.
Kathleen,wife of the late Kevin Guthrie,is deeply mourned by her loving daughter Ashling,adored grandchildren Saoirse and Lila,sisters Addy,Irene Gannon (Breaffy),Ita (Chicago),and Angela (Chicago); son-in-law Gareth; Aunt Annie (Shraigh); and numerous brothers-in-law,sisters-in-law,nephews,nieces,cousins,relatives,neighbours,and friends.
What support is available to the family? Donations in Kathleen’s memory are welcomed for The Stroke Unit at The Sacred Heart Hospital, and can be made through Coady’s Funeral Home.
Kathleen will repose at The Coady Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:30pm until 7pm, with removal afterwards to her home. Removal from her home will take place on Friday morning at 10:30, proceeding to The church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Requiem Mass at 11:30. Following the mass, Kathleen will be laid to rest with her beloved son, Tomás, at Castlebar New cemetery.
