Jammu: Suspected terrorists attacked an army vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Monday. On receiving the information, the army and Jammu and Kashmir police have started a search operation in the area. Defense officials said that terrorists attacked the Indian Army convoy in Machedi area of Kathua district. This area comes under the 9th Corps of the Indian Army. A day earlier on Sunday, a soldier was injured in terrorist firing in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said that the soldier was injured on Sunday when terrorists opened fire on the Territorial Army camp in Gulathi village of Manjakot area of Rajouri district at around 4 am. The soldiers retaliated and the firing continued for about half an hour.
Six terrorists killed in Kulgam encounter
An officer said that the terrorists managed to escape from the spot. A search operation has been launched to trace them. Meanwhile, six terrorists were killed in two encounters going on in Kulgam district of Kashmir Valley. DGP R.R. Swain described the killing of six local terrorists as a significant achievement for the security forces. He said that two army personnel including a para commando sacrificed their lives in the encounter with the terrorists.
