Kochi: The crime branch has received information confirming director Bala Chandrakumar’s revelation that Dileep was in possession of the footage of the attack on the actress. The information was obtained from a hard disk seized from Lab Systems India Limited in Mumbai, which was sent to erase the information on the phones. The information came from new information obtained from phones used by Dileep and his brother-in-law Sooraj.
It is learned that Dileep’s wife Kavya is in Chennai. According to police, Kavya should be questioned on her return from Chennai. Further evidence has been found to substantiate Balachandra Kumar’s revelation. The Crime Branch states that Balachandra Kumar is a credible witness from this evidence.
Thousands of documents were recovered from six mobile phones filed by Dileep in the high court. Phone conversations alone last more than 200 hours.
Testing of two of the six phones is 90 percent complete. The other four phones need to be tested.
With the help of lawyers, Dileep and others destroyed the evidence, but crime branch officials said they were able to gather some evidence.
There is also evidence that Pulsar Suni, the first accused in the case, arrived near Dileep’s house. This digital evidence will be crucial for the crime branch in the re-investigation. From this, the investigation team has not categorized the information required for the case.
The crime branch also has the audio recording of the audio tape in the possession of director Balachandra Kumar in connection with the conspiracy case.
A photo of the court documents was also obtained from Dileep’s phone. These are the documents signed by the Presiding Officer. An application was filed on March 29 seeking permission from the Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court to inquire into the matter. Permission not granted.
The Chemappu Swift car that took Pulsar Suni from Dileep’s house has been seized. The lawyer who took Dileep’s phones to the lab in Mumbai needs to be questioned.
