The Kazakh authorities have extended the ban on the import of wheat by all types of transport until the end of 2024. This was reported by the government press service following a meeting of the interdepartmental commission on foreign trade policy and participation in international economic organizations, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

“The ban on import of wheat into Kazakhstan by all types of transport has been extended until the end of the year. The threat of import of wheat into the country through grey schemes and its re-export by road from border regions of the Russian Federation still remains. Forecasts for the grain harvest, which in Kazakhstan is expected to be higher than last year, were also taken into account,” the statement said.

Earlier, Kazakhstan introduced a temporary ban on the import of wheat into the republic from April 12, 2024, which was supposed to be in effect for six months.

The meeting also decided to extend the ban on the export of breeding stock of large and small cattle from the territory of Kazakhstan for a period of six months. This ban was introduced in Kazakhstan on January 8, 2024. “Taking into account the tasks of large-scale construction of dairy farms and support for the development of livestock farming using the Australian method, it was decided to extend the ban for another six months,” the press service explained.
