It is planned to increase the volume of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor.

As Day.Az reports on Monday with reference to Trend, Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Satzhan Ablaliyev said this during the 2nd meeting of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani Work Council in Baku.

“Cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan has increased one and a half times – to 4.3 million tons. Cargo transportation is also growing along the Middle Corridor. Last year it increased by 65 percent,” he noted.

According to him, this year it is planned to further increase transportation (up to 4.2 million tons).

“A number of companies receive discounts on rail transportation, which has increased the volume of transportation. There is also an increase in the transportation of Chinese containers (3 times),” he emphasized.

The Vice Minister also touched upon the laying of a fiber-optic communication line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea.

“Not only the countries of the region, but also countries outside it are interested in this project. Therefore, in the future we are ready to discuss the laying of additional lines,” added S. Ablaliev.
