Kazakhstan will send the flight recorders (“black boxes”) of the crashed AZAL plane to the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents of Brazil (CENIPA), which is the manufacturing country of the Embraer plane.

As Day.Az reports, this is stated in the message of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

According to the information, the corresponding decision was made by the Commission for Investigation of the Aviation Incident, which is headed by the country’s Minister of Transport, Marat Karabaev.

“In accordance with the standards of Annex 13 of the Chicago Convention, the State conducting the investigation shall ensure that the flight recorders are read and decide which country will be selected to read and decrypt the black boxes.

Kazakhstan ratified this convention in 1992 and is a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Based on the above document, as well as taking into account the recommendations of ICAO and consultations with the aviation authorities of Azerbaijan and Russia, the Aviation Accident Investigation Commission, headed by the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabaev, a decision was made to send flight recorders (black boxes) to the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation accidents of Brazil (CENIPA), which is also the country of origin of the Embraer aircraft.

The center (CENIPA) has the necessary technical capabilities, is equipped with appropriate equipment and a certified laboratory for reading them,” the ministry said in a statement.
