Kazakhstani chess player Zanzaya Abdulmalik has given an explanation about her withdrawal from the ongoing tournament in Delhi.

The Women’s Grand Prix 2022-2023, organized by the International Chess Federation (FIDE), is underway in Delhi, the capital of India. Athletes from different countries from all over the world have participated in this series. Chess player Zanzaya Abdulmalik from Kazakhstan was also going to participate in this. He is the first Grandmaster of Kazakhstan to visit Delhi to participate in the Grand Prix. It is said that he was not given a proper reception. As a result, the news that he has opted out of the series came as a shock.

After this, chess player Zanzaya Abdumalik has explained about leaving without participating in the series. This was shared by Cespace India on its Twitter page. In it, “I have left this series as the arrangements made for this series were not perfect. I reached the airport at 1.30 pm. But they forgot to meet me. I tried to contact whoever was waiting for me. But he didn’t read the messages for an hour and a half. We did everything they told us in the mail what to do. But there was nothing at the airport. I think gathering 12 people is not difficult as those who managed to gather 1000 people in last year’s biggest Chennai Olympiad. It is unimaginable that when a leading man arrives for a series, no one comes to pick him up. It was not a good start.

Also, the location of the hotel was not good. CES knows that Delhi has air problems due to pollution. I always saw something burning outside the hotel. Getting out of the hotel is also difficult. The hotel staff told me that it is dangerous not to go out of the hotel. I love India. We got Olympiad in Chennai. We have fond memories of it. But this time something went wrong. I couldn’t imagine staying there for two weeks and playing. It is one of the best series in the world. I request the chess organization to focus on women’s chess competition as well. It got too much for me so I decided to leave. We deserve to play in good conditions. Everyone knows that I am a great fighter and I will not walk out of a series like this without reason,” he said.
