The king earlier accepted the resignation of Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak.

It has already been reported that in the British parliamentary elections held on Thursday, the Labor Party, which had been in the opposition until now, won a decisive victory. They won an absolute majority in the House of Commons, ending 14 years of Conservative rule.

In his first speech in Downing Street, Starmer promised to restore trust in politics and rebuild Britain, expressing confidence that the country can “move forward together”.

“Now our country has decisively voted for change, for the renewal of the country,” said the new prime minister.

“When the gap between the sacrifices people make and the services they receive from politicians becomes so wide, it creates fatigue in the heart of the nation, drains hope, spirit and faith in a better future,” Starmer said.

“But we have to move forward together. Now this wound, this lack of trust, can only be healed by actions, not words, I know that,” stressed the Labor leader.

“But we can start today by simply recognizing that public service is a privilege and that your government should treat every person in this country with respect,” he added.

Starmer promised that his government would serve the people. “The work of change begins immediately, but make no doubt, we will rebuild Britain,” the Prime Minister promised.
