LOS ANGELES, August 1, 2025 — Organizations focused on enhancing the lives of older adults and their caregivers in the Japanese American and Japanese communities of Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura counties have until 5 p.m. PDT on Friday, August 1, 2025, to submit applications for Keiro’s 2026 Grants Program.

## Funding boost for senior well-being programs

Community groups can secure up to $20,000 to support programs aligning with key quality-of-life elements.

The grants are designed to bolster programs that promote health, purpose, connection, security, and autonomy among seniors. This initiative aims to cultivate community hubs that provide greater access to services, helping older adults age with dignity and on their own terms.

  • Grants of up to $20,000 are available for programs supporting older adults and caregivers in Southern California’s Japanese American community.
  • Priority is given to organizations with annual budgets under $1 million and programs offering sustained support.
  • The grant funding period is from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
  • Applications are due by 5 p.m. PDT on August 1, 2025.

What organizations need to know about the 2026 Grants Program:

Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded through a competitive review process. Keiro is prioritizing organizations with annual operating budgets under $1 million. They also favor recurring or periodic programs that offer consistent support over one-time events.

The grant funding period will span 12 months, from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. Funds can be used for program development, capacity building, including staffing, and core operating support. Capital projects will not be funded.

“The grant-funded work being done by community organizations’ volunteers and staff has had an invaluable impact on older adults and their loved ones over the past nine years,” said Beverly Ito, Keiro president & CEO. “We look forward to continuing our support of the programs, services, and activities that enhance wellbeing and quality of life for older adults in their local communities.”

The program’s core objectives include enhancing the quality of life for older adults and caregivers, fostering connections through community programs and events, and increasing the capacity to deliver these vital services. It also aims to promote accessible and culturally sensitive programs.

Keiro will also host three one-hour educational online workshops. Registration is required to attend these sessions. More details on the grants program, including application forms, guidelines, and workshop registration, can be found on keiro.org/grants.
