Kelly Clarkson has opened up about her views on marriage and her decision to never wanting to get married, despite marrying Brandon Blackstock. In an interview with People, the Grammy winner admitted that she never wanted to walk down the aisle and that it was important to Blackstock due to his children and religious background. Clarkson revealed that her reluctance to get married stems from witnessing multiple broken relationships in her family.
Clarkson, 41, and Blackstock, 47, were married for nearly seven years before filing for divorce in June 2020. The singer reportedly has full custody of their two children, while Blackstock receives them on weekends. Clarkson also stated that she is not interested in finding a new partner at the moment and is focused on enjoying her single life and raising her children.
During a previous Instagram Live session, Clarkson mentioned that she was not looking for a boyfriend, joking that she may be “single forever.” She also emphasized the challenges of starting over after thinking that she would spend the rest of her life with someone.
Despite her previous relationships, Clarkson remains optimistic about the future and has learned to embrace the single life, stating that she is having a good time and is in no rush to start dating again.
