Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who declared his support for former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, announced on the 4th (local time) that he plans to campaign with Trump in key battleground states to help him return to the White House.

Kennedy Jr., who ran as an independent candidate in the US presidential election, suspended his campaign and declared his support for former President Trump late last month. In the process, he received harsh criticism from the Kennedy family.

“We’re planning a ‘Make America Healthy Again’ tour,” Kennedy Jr. said on NewsNation that day. “We’re planning to go to most of the battleground states together.”

“I will be campaigning in these battleground states going forward,” he continued. “We will achieve the goals I set when I first started campaigning: to end censorship, to stop surveillance, and to get out of the war in Ukraine.”

“The only way to do that is to bring Trump to the White House,” Kennedy Jr. said, adding, “We will do everything we can to make that happen.”

The Trump campaign named Kennedy Jr. and former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard honorary co-chairs of the transition team after Kennedy endorsed them.

Earlier, on the 26th of last month, candidate Kennedy Jr. announced that he had received an offer from the Trump camp to join the transition team. He appeared at a Trump campaign rally on the 23rd of last month.

Kennedy Jr.’s decision to support Trump had little impact, a recent poll found.

In a poll released on the 1st by ABC News and Ipsos, most respondents (79%) said his choice would not affect their vote. One in ten (12%) said Kennedy Jr.’s support made them more likely to vote for Trump.

Kennedy Jr. once had over 10% support, but as the election landscape shifted to a two-way race between Harris and Trump, his support fell to 4%.
