Thiruvananthapuram: After the badminton matches in the first Kerala Games, Ernakulam and Kozhikode dominated. In the men’s event, Kozhikode beat Ernakulam to the second position and became the champions. In the women’s event, Ernakulam defeated Kozhikode to win the gold. Neeraj Rahman, K Govind, Navneet Ramesh, S Sunjith, Arvind Suresh, Amrit Bhaskar and Uday Prakash won gold for Kozhikode. Vijay Krishnan is the coach of Kozhikode. The team comprising Diya Arun, Archana Varghese, Ranya Rajan and Mary Athulya Anil won gold for Ernakulam. MS Sooraj is the coach. In the men’s category, Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha shared the third position. In the women’s category, Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad came third. The men’s final featured three singles and two doubles matches. Kozhikode won the first 2 singles and the next doubles match 3-0. The women’s final consisted of 2 singles and one doubles. Ernakulam won the first singles and then doubles by a margin of 2-0.
