Ponnamaravathi:

The fishing festival was held at Kesaranganmai in Kesarapatti village near Ponnamaravathi. Ahead of the festival, village chiefs broke coconuts in front of a dam on the banks of the Kanmai and threw a white piece, after which a large number of people from the surrounding areas including Alavayal, Ammankurichi, Valayapatti, Kandyanatham and Himachal Pradesh competed and fished. They eagerly caught the fingerlings, which are native fish weighing 1 kg to 5 kg. Then they took home the fish they got and cooked and ate it.
