Traveling the world for a living sounds like the ultimate dream, and Kevin and Janetta from Travel Guides are certainly living it.
The popular duo, often dubbed the show’s ‘travel snobs,’ have been sharing their adventures for nearly a decade. They’ve explored countless destinations, from iconic cities to lesser-known gems across Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America, and of course, Australia.
But what did they do before they became TV’s favorite travel critics? In Episode 5 of their 9Entertainment video series, the retired couple revealed their surprising career paths.
While many might assume they were flight attendants, the couple actually worked for Trans Australia Airlines, which later merged with Qantas. They’ve been married for 38 years, and their airline careers brought them together.
A Deep Dive into Their Professional Past
“I started off as, I think, one of Victoria’s first female sales reps back in the 80s,” Janetta shared. “And that was a lot of fun, then moved on to be a sales manager looking after all the group travel and convention travel.”
Before her sales career, Janetta also worked in the fashion industry, which might explain her consistently glamorous appearance on screen.
Kevin, on the other hand, began his career in the airline’s less glamorous administrative side. He eventually transitioned into becoming a travel writer.
More recently, their combined experience has seen them take on significant judging roles. These roles perfectly blend their passions for food, travel, and, naturally, wine.
