The trial of Kevin Spacey in London has begun. The US actor entered Britain’s Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday.

Fateful weeks are ahead for Kevin Spacey (63). The US actor arrived in London on Wednesday to appear in court over alleged sexual assaults. In a dark suit and in the presence of his lawyers, the Oscar winner entered the British Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday morning, where the approximately four-week process began.

Spacey is accused of sexual assault against several men in twelve cases, some of them serious. The actor has pleaded not guilty to all charges. In July 2022, Spacey had already pleaded not guilty to five charges of assault against three men between 2005 and 2013 in London’s Old Bailey Court. The cases are expected to be heard in this process.

Kevin Spacey awaits acquittal

Most recently, the “American Beauty” star was optimistic in an interview with “Zeit Magazin” that he would prove his innocence in court and be acquitted. A pre-trial review took place via video link with Spacey back in April.

In another case in the United States, the actor won a legal victory in October 2022. His fellow actor Anthony Rapp (51) had accused him of sexually molesting him in 1986 when Rapp was 14 years old. The New York jury found Spacey not guilty.

Can he make a comeback in Hollywood?

For Spacey, his acting comeback is only a matter of time. “We live in a time when many people fear that they will be canceled if they support me,” Spacey continued in the “Zeit Magazin” interview, adding: “But as soon as I’m acquitted in London, I will certain people are offering roles again. In the same minute!” He himself is ready for a return in front of the camera or on the stage.

Spacey, who received an Oscar for his performance in “American Beauty” (1999) and “The Usual Suspects” (1995), has only been involved in a few smaller film productions in recent years. He appeared in the two feature films “Billionaire Boys Club” (2018) and “L’uomo che disegnò Dio” (2022), and landed a voice role in the independent thriller “Control”.
