jpnn.comJAKARTA – Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), became keynote speaker at the International Conference of UNAIR Postgraduate School 2024 in Surabaya, East Java, Wednesday (11/9).
On that occasion, he explained the participation of the Ministry of ATR/BPN in realizing 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which was initiated by the United Nations (UN).
AHY explained that in accordance with its authority, the Ministry of ATR/BPN participates in poverty alleviation and reducing inequality as stated in the SDGs through the Agrarian Reform program.
He explained that the program aims to reduce the inequality of land ownership, within a period of 10 years the Ministry of ATR/BPN has succeeded in registering 12.5 million hectares of land which can then be utilized by the community.
“We believe that without land there will be no food, no life, and no future. Therefore, we are implementing Agrarian Reform, a strategic policy that targets to redistribute land ownership and improve people’s welfare,” said AHY in his presentation.
The program then received recognition from the World Bank and invited AHY to the World Bank Land Conference, to talk about the success story of land registration in Indonesia.
Not only that, the Ministry of ATR/BPN also contributed to addressing climate change by revising Government Regulation Number 18 of 2021 which aims to facilitate the granting of Land Use Rights (HGU) for carbon trading.
“This policy is in line with long-term strategy for low carbon and climate resilience 2050 and achieve the target zero emission 2026,” he continued.
