Begum Khaleda Zia, who is under treatment in the hospital, is not in the physical condition to travel for 15-20 hours. Because of this, his doctors are not allowing him to go abroad for treatment at the moment. However, everything has been prepared including his passport to take him abroad for treatment. Begum Khaleda Zia will be taken abroad with the permission of doctors only if she is deemed physically fit to travel.

According to BNP sources, the Passport Directorate had withheld Begum Khaleda Zia’s passport for several years on the orders of the top level of the Awami League government. Khaleda Zia was given a renewed Machine Readable Passport (MRP) on the night of her release on August 6.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s private secretary ABM Abdus Sattar said, “We have to see whether the madam has the physical condition to undertake a 15-20 hour journey.” I took him abroad for better treatment, but if his condition worsened after a long journey, it was no use.
He said, only when the doctors give permission, we will go abroad for treatment. We have all the preparations. Now I am just waiting for the permission of the doctors.
When asked how Khaleda Zia’s physical condition is now, ABM Abdus Sattar said that she is as before. His physical condition is quite good now.
A BNP Standing Committee leader, who did not wish to be named, said that when the party takes a decision, Madam will be taken abroad for treatment. Then visa will not be an obstacle. It will take maximum half an hour to get his visa. We have regular communication and good relations with various embassies.
Incidentally, Khaleda Zia was released by executive order in 2020, but the Awami League government turned her back despite repeated requests from her family to take her abroad for better treatment. However, the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country after resigning in a student-public coup on August 5. The President released Khaleda Zia with special executive powers on August 6. Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has no restrictions on going abroad for medical treatment.
On February 8, 2018, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was imprisoned by the Awami League government in a corruption case. On his 74th birthday, Nazim was in Uddin Road Central Jail. Later, he was in hospital on his 75th birthday while imprisoned. This three-time prime minister is under treatment in the hospital even on his 80th birthday. However, this time he is free from prison.
