Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned the Secretary General of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, Hassan Nasrallah, about Israel’s plans to eliminate him.
As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, Reuters agency reports with reference to sources.
According to the agency, the Iranian leader warned the Secretary General immediately after a series of pager explosions that occurred on September 17. Then Khamenei sent an envoy to Nasrallah, who was supposed to warn him of the danger and ask him to leave for Iran.
“The messenger was a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, who was with Nasrallah in his bunker when he was hit by Israeli bombs,” the material says.
The Israeli Air Force press service reported on the liquidation of the head of the Lebanese movement on September 28. According to them, an airstrike was carried out on the underground headquarters of the organization in the south of Beirut. The attack was carried out at a time when the organization’s high command was at its headquarters and “engaged in coordinating terrorist activities against citizens of the State of Israel.”
Reuters later reported that Khamenei was transferred to a “safe location” within the country after Nasrallah was eliminated. According to the agency, Iranian authorities are in constant communication with Hezbollah and other allies in the region to determine next steps.
