Kharkov: extensive activities for the city’s residents on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah

An extensive activity was held on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah in the city of Kharkiv in Ukraine by the rabbi Moshe Moskovitz, Schaaf recently received a medal of honor from the mayor for his activities.

Thousands of packages of food were distributed in the weeks before the holiday and the couriers in the city went to many houses, set up mezuzahs and placed tefillin with many Jews who had never placed tefillin. Many of the residents, who had not left their homes for a long time due to the war, were excited to receive the messengers in their homes.

The emissary Miriam Moskovitz lit candles with the women and girls from the beginning of the war sleeping in the basement of the synagogue.

Hundreds of Jews participated in the holiday prayers and the blowing of the shofar in the synagogue.

Despite the many alarms due to the war – the synagogue was full, people who came for the first time since the beginning of the war to pray in the synagogue and were very excited to see the rabbi and his family and the members of the community.
