The Libyan Technocrats Association said that the briefing of the Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Khoury, before the UN Security Council, yesterday, Tuesday, was a news report of events in Libya and contained nothing new or useful.
In a statement regarding the briefing, a copy of which was obtained by “Ain Libya”, the group noted that the most dangerous thing in Khoury’s briefing is its repeated use of the terms “East” and “West”, which suggests that Libya is divided between two parties on a regional basis, while the division is not based on that, as evidenced by the division of the members of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State, which is not based on a regional basis.
The statement pointed out that using the terms “East” and “West” to describe events in Libya will establish the acceptance of this description as a tangible reality on the ground, and will undoubtedly divide Libya on the basis of conflict and warfare, far from the sound and realistic application of the concepts of decentralization and expansion of local administration, under national sovereignty.
The Libyan Technocrats Gathering strongly warned and disavowed accepting this approach in the literature of the political reality that was imposed on the Libyan people against their will, and this approach may have disastrous consequences.
The gathering concluded its statement by calling on the Libyan people, with all their forces and political and social components, to reject this poisonous performance of the United Nations Support Mission to Libya and its staff, which is negatively interfering in Libyan political affairs. It reiterated that the correct path to saving the country is an electronic popular referendum on a permanent constitutional basis and applicable electoral laws.
