The monitoring operation on illegal excise goods (BKC), especially illegal cigarettes, is carried out simultaneously by all vertical units of Customs and Excise within a certain time period and is carried out in an integrated manner in production and marketing areas.

Head of the Public Relations and Customs Counseling Sub-Directorate, Encep Dudi Ginanjar, said that Operation Gempur 2024 is a form of government commitment to eradicating illegal cigarettes.

“Operation Gempur is a manifestation of the government’s commitment, especially Customs and Excise and other related parties in carrying out their functions. community protection through preventive and repressive efforts to eradicate the circulation of illegal cigarettes to protect society and create a level playing field for industry,” said Encep in his statement, Wednesday (10/7).

Operation Gempur is also an effort to intensify the illegal cigarette monitoring operations that have been routinely carried out by this agency throughout the year.

Previously in 2023, Operation Gempur resulted in 8,813 illegal cigarette arrests or 44.4 percent of the total Customs and Excise arrests nationally.

The value of goods resulting from action in 2023 was recorded at 253.7 million illegal cigarettes or an achievement of 35.8 percent of the total number of goods resulting from national action.

For this achievement, Encep expressed his appreciation to all business actors in the excise sector who have complied with the rules, so that state revenues in the excise sector remain optimal.

Surveillance operations against illegal cigarettes are carried out simultaneously by all vertical units of Customs in Indonesia.
