Kidnapping by “hooded men”: SQ intervenes for a “bachelor party”

by time news

After an extensive deployment to find a kidnapped young man, police from Val-d’Or in Abitibi-Témiscamingue finally found themselves face-to-face with a prospective bride and her groom during a boy’s “stag party.”

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) said on Tuesday that around dinner time, patrol officers received an emergency call reporting the kidnapping of a man by several masked men.

They kidnapped the youth before fleeing. Unaware that it was a hoax, the police blocked parts of the road.

“The suspicious vehicle was spotted by our police officers on Route 117 between the Louvicourt sector and the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve,” the SQ said.

The friends eventually “kidnapped” the man “to go to a bachelor party in another area,” police said.

The SQ therefore did not issue a statement of offense, but nevertheless issued a short reminder of alertness to the population that this type of situation “can have considerable consequences and may be blown out of proportion”.
