UN Food Program Leader Concerned

David Beasley, head of the UN World Food Program, has said that Afghanistan is in a situation where children cannot be fed and raised.
Afghanistan has been plagued by drought and famine for the past few years. With the Taliban in power since September 2021, Afghanistan’s economy has changed dramatically. The world has been reluctant to help Afghanistan since the Taliban came to power. Many countries have stopped their funding.

Of Afghanistan’s population of about 40 million, 2.3 million are currently living below the poverty line. Most of them are trapped in the grip of poverty. Many people who have no other choice have sold their kidneys and babies. If this trend continues, he said, 97 percent of the country’s population could be below the poverty line by the end of this year.
In such an environment, the United Nations has called on the nations of the world to lend a helping hand to rescue people trapped in poverty and economic hardship.
