The Pechersk District Court of Kiev has arrested all the property of the leader of the Ukrainian party “European Solidarity”, the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko (2014-2019). EGO is accused of high treason and aiding terrorism due to the supply of coal to Ukraine from Donbass. Mr. Poroshenko’s lawyer, Igor Golovan, called the case a political persecution of the ex-president and added that the defense would appeal the court’s decision.

Announcing the ruling during the hearing, the judge listed all the property and assets of the fifth president, which are being seized. These are, in particular, apartments belonging to Petro Poroshenko in Vinnitsa and Kiev, a manor in Kozin, land plots, as well as Poroshenko’s shares in several private companies, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

We will remind, on December 18, Petro Poroshenko left Ukraine after they tried to hand him a summons for interrogation. Subsequently, the former president was presented with suspicion in the case of treason, and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine demanded the arrest of the former president. Today, Mr. Poroshenko, who is on a business trip to the EU, announced that he will return to Ukraine on January 17 and will participate in the court in his case.
