Kifisia and Volos were tied 0-0 at “Mihalis Kritikopoulos” of Kaisariani for the 22nd game of the championship, with the team from the northern suburbs losing two valuable points and the Thessalian group leaving Athens with one of “gold”.
The (typical) home team did not manage to overtake Thessalians and leave them penultimate despite playing with a player for more than a half, so Volos’ point can only be considered a success.

The match started with an opportunity for Kifissia, when in the 3rd minute Menendes took the rebound from the removal of Barrientos and with a one-piece shot from the height of the large area sent the ball to the crossbar.
Ten minutes later referee Poulikidis sent off Achillea Beo, who protested strongly about overcrowding in the stands while the game was being played behind closed doors.
The visitors missed the biggest chance of the match in the 20th minute, when Anagnostopoulos stopped Koba in the 4-on-4 between them, while then the Volos player shot from the side and the ball took a trajectory parallel to the home goal.
Thessalonians were down to 10 players at the end of the first half, when Aslanidis received a second yellow card for a tackle on Bifumas. The hosts looked to take advantage in the second half and pressed, with Kovacs saving Tetei’s spot-kick in the 52nd minute.
Angel Lopez intervened in the development of the match, he strengthened his axis with changes giving runs and Volos started to mitigate the pressure he was receiving, closing the spaces well.
There is no reason for the Thessalians to come forward, of course. Somehow, easy or difficult, the team from Magnesia managed to keep the “zero” until the end and leave Kaisariani with a valuable point.
