(ANSA) – PISA, APRIL 21 – One year after the attack that led to the death of Barbara Capovani, a 55-year-old psychiatrist, her colleagues and closest friends wanted to remember her with a minute’s silence and the placing of a bouquet of flowers during a short ceremony in front of the psychiatric diagnosis and treatment service in Pisa of the ASL Tuscany North West where the doctor worked and was struck on 21 April 2023.
Simona Elmi, psychiatrist, collaborator and friend of Dr. Capovani, recalled that day and underlined “how the void that her death left in patients, colleagues and in the entire healthcare community, not only in Pisa, cannot be filled if not through the memory and continuation of the many projects she had put in place: on this day we wanted to meet with the people dearest to her to at least partially fill the sadness of this day which accompanied us for an entire year and today the pain is more intense because the memory is always very vivid.” At the ceremony representing the ASL were the director of social services, Laura Guerrini, the director of the health society Cristina Laddaga, and the director of the mental health department of the health company, Angelo Cerù.
For Capovani’s death, the voluntary homicide trial of one of his former patients, Gianluca Paul Seung, currently detained, is underway. (HANDLE).
