Kilometers of oil trail on the Danube in Passau

An oil film on the Danube in Passau occupies the water police and fire brigade in Bavaria. The trail runs on the right bank of the river over a distance of about four to five kilometers, said a spokesman for the Passau water police. Where the oil comes from is still unknown. The police spokesman said it presumably left a ship. For the time being, the matter should not have any effects in neighboring Upper Austria.

Witnesses reported the dazzling film on the river on Tuesday morning. According to the information, the fire brigade is currently setting up an oil barrier. As soon as the environmentally harmful substance is bound, it will be removed from the Danube. No support had initially been requested from the Upper Austria fire brigade command, according to the APA request in the afternoon.
