On the 2nd, a production report meeting for the movie ‘Lovestruck in the City’ (directed by Lee Eun-hee) was held at Megabox Seongsu in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Director Lee Eun-hee and lead actors Kim Go-eun and Noh Sang-hyun attended the event and talked.
‘Lovestruck in the City’ is based on the popular novel of the same name by Park Sang-young, and is a film that depicts the love between Jae-hee (played by Kim Go-eun), a free-spirited woman who doesn’t know how to read others’ minds, and Heung-soo (played by Noh Sang-hyun), who is used to keeping his distance from the world, as they live together and enjoy their unique love. On this day, director Lee Eun-hee said about the process of adapting the novel into a film, “Those who have read the book know that it was really fun.” She continued, “There was that much pressure, but I thought it would be fun to see the book ask the question, ‘Who am I?’ and that there is someone who knows me better than I do and believes in me, and that I can become a better person, so I decided to take on the challenge.” Kim Go-eun then said about the reason for her appearance, “It was a project that I waited for for about two and a half years after receiving the script, and I was very happy when it was produced,” and confessed, “The script was so fun, and I liked how honest and candid the story was in the script.”
Noh Sang-hyun is starring in his first film. He said, “I’m so nervous,” but added, “I also thought the script was fun to read, easy to read, and written honestly and frankly,” and “I think the lines were realistic, so I naturally accepted them, and the role is the same.”
The chemistry between the two actors is also anticipated. When Kim Go-eun heard the news of Noh Sang-hyun’s casting, she said, “I thought, ‘Oh my! This is perfect,'” and “I wondered where I could find such an exciting person, and as soon as I saw him, I thought, ‘He’s exciting. ‘” Noh Sang-hyun also responded, “I thought, ‘He’s the perfect Jae-hee,'” and “I was honored because he’s such a great actor, and I thought he was so ideal.”
Kim Go-eun said of her chemistry with Noh Sang-hyun in the drama, “It’s sparkling,” and “It’s not just lovable and lovely chemistry, there’s also chemistry where sparks fly.”
He added, “As that chemistry is refined, you will be moved when the movie ends.”
Noh Sang-hyun said, “Because the lines are realistic, there seems to be a lot of raw feelings, and they have a good time fighting and making up in flashy scenes,” and “They will show us having fun at the club and sharing many stories about youth,” raising expectations.
Director Lee Eun-hee said, “I’m happy and proud just to have the two of them on screen together,” and added, “I regret filming the scenes where the two of them go through thick and thin together. I should’ve written the script to have the two of them in it from beginning to end, but I wasn’t able to see them as much as I wanted, so I wish there was another opportunity.”
Meanwhile, ‘Lovestruck in the City’ will be released on October 2nd.
