Pyongyang: No matter how bad the life of people is in North Korea, no stone is left unturned to fulfill the luxury life style of dictator Kim Jong Un. A new luxury car has been added to the list of premium vehicles of the North Korean leader. According to the report of Independent, recently on a tour of flood-affected areas, a new luxury model of Mercedes was seen coming out of Kim Jong’s armored train. Interestingly, this car has been included in Kim’s convoy when the United Nations has banned the sale of luxury cars to North Korea. The inclusion of Mercedes Maybach GLX-600 in Kim’s convoy clearly shows that the sanctions of the United Nations are ineffective on North Korea. On August 9, the North Korean leader reached the flood-affected North Phyongan province on his special train. Here he addressed the people from the train. In the pictures shared in the North Korean media, he was seen standing near the Mercedes Maybach GLS 600, which is the top model of the facelifted version of the car launched in South Korea in April.

The price is in crores

The price of this car in the US ranges from $175,000 to $227,000 (about Rs 1.9 crore). The 40-year-old North Korean dictator has a fleet of luxury cars. His collection includes Rolls Royce Phantom, Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard, fifth-generation US-made Cadillac Escalade and Lexus armored vehicles. This is when the United Nations has banned North Korea from purchasing luxury goods, including automobiles.

Putin also gifted a car

Western countries have imposed tough sanctions on Pyongyang to curb North Korea’s nuclear weapons program. The sanctions are aimed at limiting the resources available to the North Korean government, which could be used to develop weapons of mass destruction. Sanctions were first imposed in 2006, when Pyongyang conducted an underground nuclear test. This year, Russian President Putin visited Pyongyang on a rare foreign trip. During this time, both leaders were seen traveling in a Russian-made Aurus limousine. This car was gifted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
