According to North Korea’s state news agency KCNA, Kim Jong-un, after speaking with officials at the country’s nuclear weapons agency, said North Korea should prepare to use nuclear weapons “anywhere, anytime.” He called on those responsible to “develop the long-term production of nuclear military equipment in order to put into action in a deep way the plan of the exponential increase of the nuclear arsenal”.
The North Korean leader encouraged “the continued production of powerful nuclear weapons,” according to KCNA. Once North Korea has prepared its nuclear weapons systems “to perfection”, the enemy will fear us and will not dare to provoke the sovereignty of our state, our system and our people.
Last year, North Korea declared itself an “irreversible” nuclear power. Kim Jong-un has previously called for an “exponential” increase in arms production. At the beginning of the month, he ordered the army to step up military maneuvers for a “real war”.
