Kim Le Court-Pienaar of AG Insurance-Soudal sealed overall victory in the Tour of Britain Women in Royal Leamington Spa, marking the most significant race success of the Mauritian rider’s career. Entering the final stage with a 24-second buffer, Le Court-Pienaar successfully defended her green leader’s jersey as the race concluded in Warwickshire. The 30-year-old cyclist based her overall triumph on a strong foundation, including a solo victory on the uphill finish to the Great Orme overlooking Llandudno earlier in the race.
Kim Le Court Claims Overall Glory at Tour of Britain Women
Reflecting on her milestone achievement, Le Court-Pienaar noted that she had previously faced questions about her capabilities as a general classification rider. This win is really special. This is my first general classification win and it is a first GC win for me in a team. People had questioned if I am a GC rider or not, and it is good to know that the mental state is still quite high and I’m glad I could achieve that for me and the team,
she said.
Lorena Wiebes Secures Fourth Stage Win and Second Place Overall
While Le Court-Pienaar mastered the general classification, SD Worx-Protime rider Lorena Wiebes cemented her reputation as the fastest sprinter in the Women’s World Tour. Wiebes claimed her fourth sprint victory of the week on the final stage in Royal Leamington Spa, finishing ahead of Lara Gillespie of UAE Team L’IMAD and Chiara Consonni of Canyon-SRAM. The stage victory marked the 11th of her career in the race, surpassing Mark Cavendish’s career mark of 10 stage wins to claim the most victories of any rider competing in either the men’s or women’s editions of the Tour of Britain.

Wiebes also secured second place overall in the general classification. Although targeting the overall standings was not her initial ambition, her consistency throughout the week yielded strong results. When I crossed the finish line on stage three and was still third on GC, I knew we could fight for second,
Wiebes said. The Dutch rider added that she was happy to finish the week with four victories after a successful team effort.
Breakaway Effort Animation and Final Chase
The 123.8km final stage through Warwickshire featured an early breakaway consisting of Sara Martín of Movistar, British rider Alice Towers, and Eva van Agt of FDJ United-Suez. The trio slipped clear and built a lead approaching two-and-a-half minutes, maintaining their gap past the classified climbs of Sun Rising Hill and Burton Dassett Hills Country Park.

Despite holding an advantage of half a minute with under 5km remaining, the breakaway’s lead was steadily eroded by a frenzied chase in the peloton. AG Insurance-Soudal and other teams upped the pace on the approach to the finish town, finally reeling in the leaders with barely a kilometre to race and setting the stage for Wiebes’s sprint finish.
