“Children in View” Program offers Vital Support for Separating Parents in Germany
A new family education program, “Children in View” – known as kinder-im-Blick in Germany – is set to launch two series of courses in heilbronn in 2026, providing crucial support for parents navigating the challenges of separation and its impact on their children. the program, sponsored by the state, focuses on helping parents prioritize their children’s well-being during a challenging transition.
Addressing a Critical Need for Post-Separation Support
Separation and divorce are undeniably stressful experiences for all involved, but the impact on children can be notably profound. Recognizing this, the Kinder-im-Blick program offers a practice-oriented approach, delivered by certified trainers throughout Germany, to help parents cope with the emotional and logistical complexities of separation. The program’s core philosophy centers on understanding and responding to the unique needs of children in these circumstances.
Course Curriculum: A Holistic Approach to Co-Parenting
The six-evening courses cover a comprehensive range of topics designed to empower parents. Key areas of focus include: understanding a child’s needs during and after separation; implementing loving and consistent parenting strategies; addressing the specific challenges faced by separated parents; managing difficult emotions; improving interaction and cooperation with the other parent; and successfully navigating separate and shared parental obligation.
According to program materials, the curriculum is designed to be highly practical, offering actionable insights and techniques that parents can immediately apply to their own situations.
Parallel Groups Foster Individual Growth and Collaboration
To facilitate open and honest discussion, the program utilizes a unique structure with two parallel groups. This allows both parents, even those in high-conflict situations, to participate in separate sessions, fostering individual growth and providing a safe space to explore their feelings and concerns. The parallel structure also encourages a more collaborative approach to co-parenting, as parents can later apply the principles learned in their respective groups to improve communication and cooperation.
