This is the decision of the mayor of time.news, Carlo Masci, who signed the order extending the suspension of the lectures in attendance until March 31st. Basically, if conditions allow, the children will return to school after the Easter holiday.

An extract from the ordinance:
“Considering that the constant increase in cases of positivity to Covid-19, recorded starting from February 2021 and which continues also in March in the City of time.news, is of particular concern due to the high percentage of cases attributable to the so-called ‘ English variant ‘, which manifests a considerable increase in transmissibility for all age groups …

Pointing out that, due to the persistent pressure on the Spirito Santo hospital in time.news, the medical directors of the time.news ASL have expressly requested the suspension of teaching activities in presence also in the preschools of the municipalities of time.news, Montesilvano, Spoltore and Città Sant’Angelo.

Given the Covid-19 weekly monitoring, report 8 – 14 March 2021, published on 19 March 2021 by the Ministry of Health, Istituto Superiore di Sanità, in which there is a worsening in the general level of epidemic risk in Italy compared to the previous period of observation (1 – 7 March 2021); Taking note of the epidemiological data updated to 19 March 2021 released by the Abruzzo Region – Regional Health Department, which recorded a weekly increase of 567 new positives in the Province of time.news, for an overall total in the province of 16,453 positives; Also acknowledged that in the period 13 – 19 March 2021 the ASL of time.news notified the Authority n. 301 new cases of positivity to Covid-19 and n. 12 deaths of virus-positive subjects residing and / or domiciled in the Municipality of time.news; It has been noted that the analysis of the data notified by the time.news ASL to the Authority represents a constant growth in the number of positives and, in particular, shows a percentage of contagion equal to 11.63% in the 0-19 age range and in the 3 -6 years an infection rate of 2.99%; Taking into consideration that, as of July 15, 2020, pediatric cases of Covid-19 in Italy, age range 0-19, were equal to 1.8% of the total, with an average age of 11 years, as emerging from the study published in the scientific journal Pediatrics, entitled “COVID-19 Disease Severity Risk Factors for Pediatric Patients in Italy” by the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Mathematical Models, of the Infectious Diseases Department of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, with the participation of the Ministry of Health and the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, made public by the information services of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità ”.
